The GIO was established in 1998 with the specific purpose to advance and update Optometry knowledge and skills based on the needs of the South African public and the profession. Besides Continuing Practitioner Development (CPD) newsletters, the GIO offers Cutting Edge Seminars, I Wellness programs and short courses in specialty fields in collaboration with our International network of educators, in particular The New England College of Optometry (NECO) Boston.
