Tony Cavallerano
Tony Cavallerano, OD, FAAO is an attending optometrist at VA Boston Health Care System and Professor of Optometry at the New England College of Optometry. For more than a decade he has been involved in telehealth initiatives related to diabetes, he has authored several book chapters and over 65 professional journal articles. He has lectured and presented at numerous local, national and international meetings and he is a fellow of American Academy of Optometry, a member of the American Optometric Association, and a founding member of the Optometric Retina Society.

Joan Hill, RD, CDE, LDN
Joan Hill, RD, CDE, LDN is owner of Hill Nutrition Consulting, LLC, in Natick, MA. In practice for over 30 years, she provides nutrition and diabetes self-management education and training to individuals and groups. Her 18 years of experience at the Joslin Diabetes Center, prepared her for providing diabetes self- management expertise. She offers consultative services to business and industries, working with many organizations such as the Jewish Guild for the Blind, Massachusetts Diabetes Prevention and Control Program, Natick Senior Center, Executive office of Elder Affairs as a Master Trainer for Health Eating, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Health Services and is also trained in University of Pittsburgh’s Group Lifestyle Balance Program. She is also a certified pump and continuous glucose sensor trainer.
She is an author, writer and editor of many professional as well as patient education materials. As a volunteer for both local and national organizations such as the American Association of Diabetes Educators, American Diabetes Association, and the American Cancer Society, she’s very happy to work in such a variety of areas helping offer people HOPE: Help Obtaining Personal Excellence!

David Shein, MD
David Shein Medical Director leads the Clinical Team at Verisk Health. In this role, his work includes clinical support and consulting on Verisk Health products. Specific roles include collaborating with project management and engineering teams on software and rules development, maintaining quality and risk measures and consulting on clinical deep dive analyses. David previously worked at MIT Medical in Cambridge, MA in the roles of Internist, Urgent Care Medical Director and Physician Coordinator for Clinical Information Systems; he held a medical staff appointment at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston as Associate in Medicine and a clinical appointment as Instructor in Medicine at Harvard Medical School.
David has over 15 years of clinical practice, medical informatics, academic (teaches Clinical Medicine at the New England College of Optometry) and managed care experience. He graduated from Boston University School of Medicine and completed his internship in Internal Medicine and Primary Care Residency at Harvard Medical School’s Deaconess Hospital in Boston.
